I promised to give a update after my DREAM fight but the problem is that the fight didn’t happen. And as such, I am giving you guys an early update in regards to my training routine. This month you can find me in the gym lifting weights. I want to gain more power and become stronger and it works! I feel stronger than ever and weigh like 101 (220 lbs.) kg. I can’t do too much weightlifting otherwise it will be difficult to go down to 93 kg (205 lbs). That’s why this will be the last week of power training. Next week I will start doing cardio and condition training. My next fight will be on November so I have to start in time so I can drop my weight slowly so I can weigh like 97 kg (215 lbs). So I don’t have to cut much weight.
K-1 final 16 –
I just saw the K-1 final 16 and it was a all-out Dutch party. The fight Remy Bonjasky versus Melvin Manhoef could have been a draw in my eyes. Melvin stick to his game plan instead of rushing in and going for the kill. The last round was for Remy and based on that he got the win, I guess. Badr Hari was the only one that finished the fight in a KO and that’s good for the main event. MMA. fighter Alistair Overeem really overpowered Peter Aerts and the K-1 legend isn’t in the final for the first time.
Overall it was a nice event, it clearly had my interest because of all the Dutch fighters. The final eight has five fighters from Holland and the other two are training in Holland so I’m proud of the guys and making sure Holland is still the best standup fight country in the world. I’m rooting for Sem Schilt in this one. A lot of friends were wondering why I’m rooting for Schilt. Sem uses his size well and is a sportsman, but to be honest I like him personally. I met him and he’s very humble. I like the way he presents himself; he doesn’t have that typical fighter’s personality. So yes, I hope he will win because I always favor the guy that I like.
After my win on Babulu, I’ve noticed that I have gotten more American fans. A lot of people didn’t know me but winning against the favorite in Babulu gave me extra attention. There were some people that weren’t convinced yet but I’m happy to show them my ability. I like to read all the great reactions and that people believe in me. It really motivates me and I feel I’m just making my entrance. I still have a long road to go.
In November my second fight for Strikeforce will take place but my opponent is not been determent . I heard some rumors like Kevin Randleman, Paulo Filho and Mike Whitehead. Whitehead would be the most logical pick because he recently won against Randleman. I’ve also heard a rumor that Arona is fighting again and it would be great if Strikeforce can pick him up. We can use a new light heavyweight fighter.
For now, I am just just concentrating on myself. On this level everybody is a threat in a fight. It’s better to look at yourself instead of your opponent.
Fedor vs. Brett Rogers –
Unfortunately I don’t have the main event yet because the honor goes to Fedor and to be honest I don’t mind it a bit. It’s a interesting matchup. I think Fedor will win but I have to mention that lots of people are underestimating Brett Rogers. Even though he didn’t fight the best of the best yet he still has a undefeated record and almost every fight ended in a KO. Then KO Arlovski in under 30 seconds or so makes me a believer. He’s very big and very strong, so he’s a danger for everybody. So I’m pretty excited for the fight. I hope I don’t break any bones in my fight so I can see the fight live myself. If Fedor wins there is a big chance he will fight Alistair. That’s a match a lot of fans want to see, so do I. Normally I like to see Alistair win, because he’s one of my favorites to watch, but this time I have to root for Fedor.
M-1 2010 –
I’ve just came from the M-1 office and saw the plans for 2010, I can’t say anything about it but it looks good! It will be a year with a lot of events and a unique way for up-and-coming talents to put themselves in the big picture. I started at shows like that and it’s good to see that I grow with the company. I’m grateful they help me make the right decisions. M-1 has been in the press a lot lately and a lot of the attention has been bad. Some fans and people only hear one side of the story and that’s a pity. I’m not into politics so I don’t say anything about it but the only thing I can see is that they love the sport and invested a lot in giving talented fighters a platform to perform.
Ok guys, have a great weekend and take care.
